by Hideo Demura, October 19th, 1998 ![]() SHVF will present its first card, Discover Excitement, in about two weeks in Tokyo Sumo hall before an expected sellout crowd. The event will air as a prime time TV special on TV Tokyo (which has also signed a contract with Moditian to air a weekly one-and-a-half hour show). The following week after the special, SHVF will debut its regular weekly show, Revolution, on TV Tokyo, Sunday nights from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. Moditian also offically announced that SHVF's first supercard, Strong Style Evolution, will take place on Wednesday, November 25, in the Tokyo Dome. Moditian said that while nothing has been finalized, the card is expected to feature the crowning of the first ever SHVF Heavyweight Champion. Puroresuringu Nikki Magazine has learned that SHVF is currently in negotations with legendary no holds barred submission wrestler Takashi Fukada about the possibility of his involvement in the new promotion. In addition to his NHB and mixed martial arts competition experince, Fukada has taken part in puroresuring, headlining several major shows for the now defunct All Asian Wrestling promotion in 1993 against the likes of Hanzo Misawa and Jun Tenyru. Wrestlers/fighters currently under contract to the innovative promotion include Dean Roy, Shiro Mayashi, and Minoru Hidaki. Moditian is also reportedly in contract talks with Steven Sczar, a former American puroresuring star who has recently been competing in mixed martial arts competitions, amassing an impressive record of 7-1-1. Moditian, the former owner of Pro Japan Wrestling, is no stranger to revolutionary projects. Earlier in the year, Pro Japan Wrestling, under his control, flourished at the box office, while revolutionizing the traditional wrestling style, before its unfortunate closure due to debts compiled by the previous ownership of PJW. PJW's influence can still be seen today in the form of several all junior heavyweight promotions that popped up after its closure. At the press conference, Moditian made it clear that his promotion was not puroresuring. "SHVF is not a puroresuring promotion. We are a hybrid, shoot wrestling promotion." However, Moditian did go on to say "Any puroresuring competitor interested in testing their true skill in the ring against our atheletes are welcome to try their hand. In fact, I'm hopeful that we'll be able to reach a deal with one of the major puroresuring promotions in Japan to allow a few of their wrestlers with the appropriate background to take part in our Strong Style Evolution card." Wrestlers interesting in joining SHVF should contact Hadi Moditian. ![]() ![]() |
