Super Hyper Visual Fighting: The
Real Deal
by Riki Fudo, October 26th, 1998
I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard about Super Hyper
Visual Fighting and let me say that I'll probably never get such a good deal
on a DVD player again. My electronic equipment purchases aside, when I
heard Hadi Moditian was going for another round in the promotional arena, I
was interested. When I heard he was running "Shoot Style"
fights, I was foaming at the mouth!! Strong style has its hardcore
followers, of which I just happen to be one of them.
Then a week later, a news item is thrown on my desk at the PN Magazine
offices. Seems that the master of the "Steel Wind Dojo"
himself, Keiji Asamiya signed with Hadi's little rising fed. Want some
more feul to add to this fire, kids? Well, Takashi Fukuda also signed
on with SHVF. Anyone see a problem here?
Let me run a little refresher course here for you guys. The place -
Tijuana, Mexico. The date - July 14th 1997. Asamiya takes a
break from tag teaming with his cousin Kazuya Asakino in SJPW to have one
last big "Shoot Fight" with arch-rival Fukuda. They met in
competition four previous times, each walking away with two wins each.
Match number five went nuts. After spilling out of the ring, Asamiya
and Fukuda start brawling into the stands causing a riot in the arena
crowd. That's right, they started a damn riot!!
Now SHVF has signed both of them? Can we say "instant box office
draw?" I knew that we could!! This little war between Fukuda and
Asamiya is bound to see them meet head on. Now it doesn't take a
genius to figure out that our pal Hadi Moditian is setting the fans up for a
big showdown. Mind you, Asamiya isn't the "Master of Strong
Style" he used to be but something tells me that if Fukuda being signed
might motivate the sensei of "The Steel Wind".
Will SHVF succeed? With box office potential like "Asamiya v.
Fukuda, Round Five", I don't see how they can fail.
