SHVF Closes Its Doors
by Hideo Demura, February 9th, 1999

Super Hyper Visual Fighting The most promising up-start wrestling promotion to open in Japan in the past several years, Super Hyper Visual Fighting, closed its doors in late January, due mainly to internal collapse.

"In the final few weeks everything just starting coming apart at the seams" said former SHVF announcer Christopher Reece when reached by phone for comment.  "As much as I love Hadi and value his friendship, he just couldn't handle running the business end of a promotion with all the other duties he had to take care of on the creative end."

Reece also made it clear that he felt Moditian was concentrating too much on Super Japan Pro Wrestling.  "I think SHVF, especially Hadi himself, was way too involved with SJPW.  We didn't need to be involved with them, we were the hottest thing to hit the market in years.  SJPW needed us, they were the ones failing at the box office, then we inked the deal with them for the Dean angle and their houses went through the roof."

The former SHVF announcer also admitted that the departures of stars Takashi Fukada and Shiro Mayashi were also major blows to the company.  "Oh yes, the loss of Fukada and Mayashi was a devastating blow.  Fukada was one of our top draws and without him, Asamiya wasn't going to be as big a draw, they feed off one another.  And with the loss of Shiro, we lost one of the young guys we were planning to build the company around.  Not to mention, their exits screwed up a lot of future line-ups."

Reece has since returned to his home in the United States and is preparing to take part in a new project.  "I've inked a deal with Steven Sczar's new World Fighting Council to be the lead announcer for their shows so things are looking up.  It's going to be something a little different than I'm used to as its a true shoot promotion but I'm very excited about it."

Since SHVF's closure Hadi Moditian has been unavailable for comment.
