Kabuki Kid versus
"Iconoclast" Sean Watts
IIWF King Of The Cruisers Tournament - 04/12/98
[Cut to ringside, where the ring announcer stands patiently in the center of the ring, his hands folded in front of him, holding the microphone. An electric guitar strums the strings once, then the crowd unleashes a huge applause as "Sweet" Sho Satsuma steps out from behind the curtains wearing black boots, blue jeans, and a white tank top. He stops and poses for a moment with a huge smile.]
Music: "What?"
[Then, the guitar wails again. Sho stops posing as he listens to the words of the song.]
Music: "Well, let me roll up on to the side walk and_take_a_look, yeah!"
[Sho walks back to the curtains and looks in.]
Music: "Whoa!!"
[Guitar wails once more.]
Music: "She's beautiful!"
[Sho throws open the curtains as the house lights go out and a spotlight shines on a woman standing in the entrance.]
Music: "I'm talking about a Yankee Rose. And, she looks wild, wild, wild, WILDDD!"
[The woman takes a seductive step out of the entrance towards the ring as each "Wild" is spoken. Then, as the drums and bass kick in, it's easy to see it's the vivacious Ms. Miki.]
Music: "Are you ready for the new sensation? Well here's a shot goingaround the world."
[She's wearing a blue two piece bikini underneath a dark tented body sleeve that goes from her neck to the floor. The crowd cheers wildly because this is her first appearance in the SJPW since the Paul Wong clothesline incident.]
Music: "All you red and blue boys salute, when her flag unfurls."
[She waves to the crowd as Sho drops down to his knees in front of her and bows in the classic Wayne's World--"We're not worthy" salute. She smiles and chuckles a little, as Sho stands up, grabs her hand, and kisses it gently. The crowd explodes in applause. This kind of tenderness isn't seen much in the world of professional wrestling, and to the Japanese audience is greatly appreciated, considering they didn't know if she'd ever return.]
Music: "Well, guess who's back in circulation? I don't know what youmake of her? But what I need right now is the original good timegirl."
[Ms. Miki, along with Sho, makes her way to the ring.]
Music: "She's a vision from coast to coast...Sea to shining sea...Hey,sister you're the perfect host."
[Into the chorus and then "Yankee Rose" by David Lee Roth fades out as Ms. Miki enters the ring and the ring announcer hands her the microphone.]
MM: Konbanwa, Super Japan Pro Wrestling! [Huge ovation] I'm Ms. Miki, and I'm glad to be back!
[Ms. Miki bows to the incredible ovation the crowd gives her. With a huge smile she continues.]
MM: Let's get this thing into high gear. Allow me to introduce one of the participants in the first round of the "King of the Cruisers" tournament, and soon to be winner and "King of the Cruisers". He'll rekindle your childhood spirit of the unbelievable. His aerial expertise will dazzle your mind's eye. His wrestling ability will astound you. Here is your tour guide to your imagination, the "Ruler of the Airways" the KABUKI KID!
["Hotter than Hell" by KISS blares over the PA. A huge explosion leads to the entranceway becoming engulfed in flames. The Kabuki Kid walks through the flames to a monstrous ovation, wearing a black and red Kabuki style robe that hangs to the floor, with a long, puffy, white hairpiece, and an "evil spirit" mask. He walks towards the ring methodically as the flames at the entrance go out. As he gets to ringside he stops and bows to the front row where the band KISS is seated. They bow back, and the Kabuki Kid turns around and walks up the steps to the apron. There he leaps to the top rope and stands facing out towards the crowd. He takes off his robe and hairpiece, handing them to the ring attendant. The amazingly muscular cruiserweight looks at the crowd. The camera pans the cheering wrestling fans. A lot of the crowd has on the Kabuki Kid face paint masks. Kabuki Kid slowly raises his hand to his face, grabs the mask and whips it off, and drops it. A huge explosion goes off and the other three corner posts shoot flames into the air. His face is painted in black with a red and white eagle. The wings cover his eyes and hang down his cheeks. The neck and head of the eagle rests on his forehead. His head is shaved bald. Suddenly, he backflips off the top turnbuckle landing on his feet in the middle of the ring. The ovation swells, then finally dies down as the music fades out and Kabuki Kid stands in the far corner awaiting his opponent.]
ER: What an incredible entrance by Kabuki Kid! He sure knows how to put on a show. "You wanted the best, you got the best"!
AO: What?
ER: It's a KISS reference, Akira, as you can see they are in attendance.
AO: I don't listen to that garbage rock-and-roll. I love the true artistry of the classics.
ER: Not all that folksy wood wind stuff with the drums?
AO: Indeed, Eddie-san.
ER: Ugh! I'll take "Love Gun" over that any day.
AO: Baka!
[Cut to ringside as the fan fare for Kabuki Kid's incredible entrance begins to die down.]
RA: Introducing his opponent...Hailing from Seattle, Washington and weighing in at 238 pounds..."ICONOCLAST" SEAN WATTS!!!
[As the initial frenetic guitar work of Iggy and the Stooges "Search and Destroy" begins to play, Sean Watts steps out of the curtains to be bathed in a swathe of red light. Lank blond hair falls in disarray to his shoulders, and his stony face is rather expressionless as he begins to stride confidently towards the ring, ignoring the fans on his way. For once his shirt isn't too disheveled; a brand new white tee with the SCRA logo plastered on the front, and the words "The World's Forgotten Boy" scrawled across the back. Beneath the shirt he looks to be wearing an emerald and black amateur style singlet.]
ER: I understand Watts had a short stint in Old Japan, Akira. Do you remember him?
AO: Bah! I was a champion. I did not have time to keep track of every gaijin pup that surrounded the ring, waiting to pull streamers out. He obviously found the work to difficult as he was released.
ER: So you do remember him?
AO: Let's just get on with this match, as Kabuki Kid takes it to this "slacker".
[The referee signals for the bell, and Kabuki Kid quickly moves from his corner to the center of the ring, motioning for Watts to come to him. Watts stays motionless for awhile, and walks out of the corner, staying close to the ropes, and watching Kabuki Kid. Kid moves in, and looks to lock-up, but Watts circles away, keeping his distance.]
ER: Watts looking hesitant to lock-up with Kabuki Kid, and Kabuki Kid keeps waving him to come in.
AO: He should go get him. Take the fight to the him.
[Watts moves in, and looks to lock up, but then suddenly shoots down, and takes Kabuki Kid to the mat with a double-leg takedown. He attempts to snare Kid's leg, but KK rolls to his feet quickly, and springs off the ropes. Watts drops down, and Kabuki Kid cartwheels over him as the fans cheer, and bounces off the opposite side ropes as Watts gets to his feet. Watts with a leapfrog, and Kabuki Kid rolls under him, and gets to his feet. Watts spins around, and Kabuki Kid nails him with a dropkick. The fans cheer as Kabuki Kid kips up, and Watts rolls over to the ropes.]
ER: Kabuki Kid pumping his fist, and getting the crowd cheering as he obviously wants a quick pace, and Watts gets to his feet, and shakes his head. He needs to keep Kabuki Kid grounded.
AO: Easier said than down Eddie-san.
[Kabuki Kid circles around Watts, and they lock-up. Watts quickly locks up Kid's wrists, and ducks his head under his right arm, and falls back, driving Kid up and over. The fans applaud the move, as Watts immediately rolls into an armbar. Kabuki Kid instinctually lifts his left shoulder off the mat, and grimaces in pain as Watts cinches the hold in. Kabuki Kid rolls over, lessening the pressure, but Watts maintains the armbar. Kid manages to rise to his feet, pushing Watts head back with his free arm. Watts switches up into a wristlock, and twists under into a hammerlock. Kabuki Kid attempts to get Watts leg, but he avoids it. Kid with a back elbow, but Watts dodges it, and applies more pressure. Kabuki Kid shouts out in pain, and leans over, hitting his shoulder with his left hand as Watts increases the pressure. Kabuki Kid, with a burst of energy, runs Watts back into the corner buckles, breaking the hold.]
ER: Kabuki Kid with a back kick to the midsection, and now fires in with a headbutt to Watts, and another...Kabuki Kid now whipping Watts across the ring to the opposite turnbuckle, and Watts hits hard, and Kabuki Kid charges across the ring.
[Kid steps on the bottom rope, the second rope, and then kicks off of Watts chest, and does a backflip out of the corner, landing on his feet as the fans "ohhhh" and "ahhhh". Watts charges out, and Kid dropkicks him in the knee which draws another "ohhhh" from the fans. Kid up quickly, and he hits a falling headbutt, and makes a cover, but Watts easily kicks out at one. Kabuki Kid rises, and pulls Watts up. Watts quickly ducks under, and drops to his knees as he sends Kid over with a Fireman's Carry. Watts attempts an armbar, but Kid quickly spins out of it, and rolls to his feet. Watts rises, and Kid fires in with a kick, but Watts catches his leg, and gets a back heel trip, sending Kabuki Kid crashing to the mat. Watts then spins down into a leg grapevine, and Kabuki Kid cries out in pain.]
ER: Watts showing his expertise on the mat, and Kid is in trouble.
AO: It won't last. Kabuki Kid will turn it around. Trust me Eddie-san. [Kid reaches up, and tries to pull Watts head back, but the referee smacks his hand away with a warning about a hairpull. Kabuki Kid tries to reach the ropes, but Watts has him in the center of the ring. The referee checks in, but Kid shakes his head and says 'no'. Watts breaks the hold, and gets to his feet, but maintains the hold of the leg, and attempts a Spinning Toe-hold. Kabuki Kid thrashes around on the mat in pain as Watts spins around once more to apply even greater pressure to the knee and ankle. Watts spins again, and the fans, Ms. Miki, and Sho cheer as Kabuki Kid manages to kick Watts off and send him flying to the ropes. Kabuki Kid rolls to his feet, and Watts moves back in and fires in with a kick to the midsection, and then executes a quick Swinging Neckbreaker. Watts up once more, and he pulls Kabuki Kid up. He locks on a wristlock, and then puts his leg over Kabuki's head.]
ER: He is going for the Rocker Dropper facecrusher... NO!
[Fans "ohhhh" and cheer!]
AO: Great counter by Kabuki!
[Kabuki Kid suddenly rises up pushing Watts up and over. Watts lands on his feet and gets leveled by a Kabuki Kid clothesline. The fans cheer as Kabuki Kid drops a knee to the head of Watts, and then Kabuki Kid jumps back up, and snaps a quick elbow to the chest. Kabuki Kid makes a cover but only gets a two count. Kid rises, limping slightly, and shakes he kinks out of his leg. He yells out to the fans as he pulls Watts up. Kabuki Kid with an Irish whip on Watts. Watts comes back off the ropes, and Kabuki Kid with a leapfrog, as Watts comes back off the ropes, Kabuki Kid does a backflip, kicking Watts in the head as his feet come over and the fans "ohhhhh" and cheer.]
ER: Kabuki Kid hits the Kaminari! Watts is down, and he rolls out of the ring as Kabuki Kid gets to his feet, and raises his hands as the fans cheer.
AO: As I told you Eddie-san, he would get back in control.
[Watts shakes off the effects of the kick, and gets up on the apron. Kabuki Kid moves in, and catches him with a headbutt that stuns Watts. Kid then hooks him up, and Snap Suplexes him into the ring. Kid maintains hold of Watts, and rolls up to his feet, and again Snap Suplexes Watts over as the fans "ohhhh" and "ahhhh". Kabuki Kid still maintains hold of Watts as he rises, and Snap Suplexes him a third time to thunderous cheers from the fans.]
ER: Kabuki Kid with Locomotion Snap-Suplexes, and he drops down for the cover. One... two... Kickout!
[Crowd goes "ohhhh" and then applauds.]
ER: Watts still able to kickout.
[Kabuki Kid rises, and pulls Watts up. He pushes Watts' head down and hooks him in a headscissor and then yells out to the crowd. They cheer as he lifts Watts up for a Powerbomb. Watts manages to slip free, and hooks Kabuki Kid's head, and spikes him to the mat with a falling DDT. The fans let out a collective "ohhhhh" as Kabuki Kid slumps to the mat. Watts stays down as well, and the referee checks on both men.]
ER: A great counter move by Watts, but he isn't able to immediately capitalize.
AO: Kabuki Kid will shake off the effects, I know it.
[Watts rolls to his knees, and rises up. He pulls Kabuki Kid to his feet, and gets a waistlock. He drops back sending Kabuki Kid over for a German Suplex, but Kabuki Kid flips free, and lands on his feet, drawing an "ohhhh" from the fans. Kabuki Kid leaps up to the second turnbuckle, and leaps off as Watts gets to his feet with a Missile Dropkick, but Watts avoids the move, sending Kabuki Kid crashing to the mat. Kid rises slowly, shaking his head, and Watts locks him in a waistlock once more, and hits a picture perfect German Suplex.]
ER: Watts bridges back... One... two... Kickout! [Fans cheer and applaud] Watts rolls to his feet, and checks with the referee about the count. The referee rolls his shoulder to mimic Kabuki Kid escaping the German Suplex. Watts pulls Kabuki Kid up. Kabuki Kid fires in with a headbutt... Another... A third staggers Watts, and Kabuki Kid leaps off the ropes... Drop toe-hold by Watts sends Kabuki Kid face first to the mat! [Fans "ohhhh"] Watts up quickly with an Oklahoma Roll-Up! One! Two! Three... NO! Kabuki managed to escape!
[Fans "ohhhh" and applaud.]
AO: Eddie-san, someone is coming out to ringside. Who is that?
[The fans turn to the aisle way with excited whispers as a man with long jet-black hair, wearing faded torn jeans, and a black T-shirt walks down to the ring. His looks up into the ring at Watts, and shakes his head. Watts stares out at the man, dumbfounded. The man walks over to Sho and Ms. Miki, and nods to them.]
ER: That is Sengir. He is also in the King of the Cruisers Tournament, and I understand that he has quite a bit of history with Watts.
AO: He seems to be aligned with Kabuki Kid's camp. This is bad news for Watts.
[Watts points out at Sengir as Kabuki Kid rises to his feet. Watts turns around only to be dropkicked in the face. Watts tumbles through the ropes to the floor. Watts gets up, and once again looks over at Sengir, who stares back at him with a cold expression on his face. The fans "ohhhh" as Kabuki Kid blindsides Watts with a Baseball slide dropkick that sends him crashing to the railing. Kabuki Kid back to his feet, and he slingshots over the ropes for a Plancha, but Watts deftly moves out of the way, and Kabuki Kid goes crashing to the concrete as the fans "ohhhh".] AO: Buddha! Kabuki Kid tried one high-risk move too many, and now he is hurt.
ER: Kabuki Kid clutching his knee as he rises, and Watts points to Sengir as he grabs Kabuki Kid from behind... Inverted DDT!... OH!
[Crowd cheers!]
ER: Kabuki Kid countered by jumping up, locking his legs around Watts' head, and rolling forward with a headscissors! What a countermove, and both men are down.
[Kabuki Kid gets to his feet, and slides back in the ring to momentarily break the count, and slides back out. He pulls Watts up as Sho, Sengir and Ms. Miki look on. He yells out to the fans, and they cheer as he executes a brutal Snap Suplex on the floor. Kabuki Kid rises, and yells out once again. He is met with deafening cheers as he pulls the limp body of Watts to his feet. He whips Watts to the railing, and Watts hits back first across the steel. Kabuki Kid lets out another yell, and runs at Watts, and catches him with a crossbody block that sends both men over the railing into the front row. Kabuki Kid slowly rises, and hops over the railing. Watts lifts his head, but cannot rise beyond that. Kabuki Kid points out to the members of KISS, and yells "THIS ONE IF FOR YOU!" He leaps up onto the railing.]
ER: SHOOTING STAR PRESS OFF THE RAILING TO THE FLOOR!
[Fans go crazy!]
ER: What a move, and Kabuki Kid rolls to his knees, and yells out to the fans, and they are deafening in here Akira.
AO: Like I said, one of the best pure flyers in the world, and he has proven it today! Now roll him into the ring, and pin him!
ER: We have to be getting close to the time-limit, and your right Akira, Kabuki Kid needs to get him in the ring.
[Kabuki Kid uses the railing to get to his feet and he limps over to Watts, and manages to pull him up, as it appears Watts is dead weight. Kabuki Kid sends Watts over the railing to ringside. He hops over the railing, and rolls into the ring to once again break the count. Watts rolls onto his stomach, and attempts to push himself up to his knees, but falters. Sengir looks down at him with callous intensity. Watts reaches up to the apron, and pulls himself up and into the ring.]
ER: Watts showing a lot of courage and heart to get back in the ring, and Kabuki Kid pulls him up. Kabuki Kid lifts Watts up and sets him on the top turnbuckle. Kabuki Kid yells out to the fans!
[Fans cheer loudly in response!]
ER: He is setting Watts up for a Superplex. No! Watts with an eye gouge, and he fires in with a punch, and another...He has Kabuki Kid stunned. He hooks a leg over Kabuki Kid's head and jumps off...ROCKER DROPPER FROM THE SECOND ROPE!
[Crowd "ohhhhs" and applauds!]
AO: Baka! How did he get lucky enough to hit a move like that?
[Watts' rolls to his knees, and rocks back on his haunches, whipping sweat from his eyes. Kabuki Kid's foot twitches, but that is the only movement he makes. Watts crawls over to Kabuki Kid, and rolls him over. He covers him, and the referee checks, and counts one. He counts two, and his hand nearly hits the mat, but he looks up and sees Kabuki Kid's foot draped over the rope. Watts rolls over into a sitting position, and shakes his head. He lets out a sigh of frustration, and again shoots a look over at Sengir. Watts slowly rises to his feet, and pulls Kabuki Kid up. He grabs both his arms, and spins him around with Kabuki Kids' head between his shoulder-blades.]
ER: He is going for the Iconoclasm! No! Kabuki Kid spins free, and hooks the arms... BACKSLIDE! One! Two! Three...NO! Watts slipped free!
[Crowd "ohhhhs" and applauds. Kabuki Kid rises, and catches Watts as he stands with a weak headbutt. Watts fires back with a weak forearm uppercut, and they trade blows as the fans cheer. Kabuki Kid hits another headbutt that staggers Watts back. Watts comes back with a wild clothesline, but Kabuki Kid ducks under it. Watts turns around, and Kabuki Kid catches him in a snap Gutwrench Suplex. Both men lay on the mat, taking deep breaths. Kabuki Kid rolls to his feet, and yells out to the fans. They cheer as he pulls Watts up. He spins him up into position for a Tombstone Piledriver and the fans "ohhhhh" and "ahhhhh" in anticipation.]
ER: Watts kicking his legs, and he shifts his weight...He flips over, and pulls Kabuki Kid up for the Tombstone!
[Crowd "ohhhh!"]
AO: Kabuki Kid now shifting his weight, and he flips over, and reverses it again!
ER: Kabuki PLANTS Watts with the Tombstone! Kabuki Kid now up to his feet, and he is signaling for the Kamikaze Drop!
[Fans cheer! The referee gets down on his knee next to Watts, and waves his hand in front of his face, checking to see if he is still in the match, as Kabuki Kid climbs up to the top, ready for his Diving Headbutt. Suddenly, Sengir leaps up on the apron, and shoves Kabuki Kid off the top. Kid crashes to the mat in a heap as the fans let out a shocked "ohhhh" and begin to boo Sengir. Sho and Ms. Miki have looks of total shock on their faces as Sengir drops off the apron.]
ER: Sengir was here to help Watts all along! They must have planned this. AO: Sho is now chasing Sengir to the back. I hope he makes him pay for this treachery.
ER: The damage has been done, though, and the official is clueless as to what happened.
AO: As usual. This is a disgrace.
[Watts sits up, his eyes glossy, and shakes his head. He rolls slowly to his feet as Kabuki Kid remains down. Watts walks slowly over to Kabuki Kid, and pulls him up. This time, Kabuki Kid is dead weight. The fans boo as Watts locks up Kabuki Kid's arms, and spins around.]
ER: ICONOCLASM!
[Crowd "ohhhhs" and then continues to boo.]
ER: Watts rolls Kabuki Kid over, and lays over him for the cover. One... two... three!
[Ding! Ding! Ding!]
RA: Your winner of the match, advancing in the tournament... "ICONOCLAST" SEAN WATTS!
["Search and Destroy" plays as Watts rolls out of the ring, and holds the back of his head, rotating his neck in pain, but obviously happy with the win. The fans boo him as he walks to the back, and look on in concern as Ms. Miki kneels down beside Kabuki Kid.]
ER: Watts gets the win...
AO: Baka! He had help to do it too. I knew this tournament was no good for our wrestlers. Kabuki Kid, the rightful winner, is cheated.
ER: Sho Satsuma runs back down to the ring. He looks extremely angry as he helps Kabuki Kid from the ring, and helps him walk to the back.
[The fans give a loud ovation for Kabuki Kid, and many throw colored streamers as he is helped to the back.]
ER: Two great matches with two rather surprising winners.
AO: I say we don't allow them here anymore!
ER: Sorry Akira but we have more tournament matches already scheduled.
AO: Baka!
