Alex RAPTOR Profile
JY:  Welcome back! What a night it's been on Battlefield tonight, and it all comes to an end next with our main event - the final of the Mikoto Tournament!

BT:  [deadpan] Yipee-skippie.

JY:  Well, unlike you Billy-san, I have been quite impressed with some of the talent in this one-night tournament. Take the two men in the final for instance. In RAPTOR we have a brash young man, but he appears to have received the right training, because he is very well-equipped in the ring.

BT:  What are you doing looking at his equipment?

JY:  Huh?

BT:  His...[looks down below the table]....you know, equipment [smiles].

JY:  I'll ignore that....in "Vainglorious" Vincent Sterling we have a well-rounded Englishman. Sure, he comes across as pompous, but if you look past that you'll see a very talented young man. It should be quite a final.

BT:  RAPTOR's got a few things going for him, but this "Virgin-Ass" dude just pisses me off. Shut the hell up and go back to England, you tea-drinking dork!

JY:  Yes, well......Billy-san has made it clear what he thinks of the wrestlers, so let's cross to the ring for the introductions....

RA:  Ladies and gentlemen, we have come to the main event of the evening! [applause] It is scheduled for one fall, with no time limit, and is the FINAL of the Mikoto Tournament! [more applause]

[Suddenly, the lights dim down to a navy blue that cascades down the aisle in a flood of spotlights. As the piano chimes out the first tunes of "The Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven, a younger woman steps down the aisle wearing a strapless magenta dress and high heels, courtesy of Christian Dior. She pauses for a moment to brush a thin strand of blond hair behind her ear before glancing behind her as her older sibling, "Vainglorious" Vincent Sterling, crosses into the aisle dressed in a tweed suit jacket, black Stubbs and Wootton shoes, and black tights with the word "Vainglorious" emblazoned vertically on them in red with yellow outline. An old fashioned bowler hat is tilted over his eyes, displaying a shady facade about himself.  Within his hands rests a finished, solid oak cane with a 'V' shaped from gold that forms the handle. Tapping his way softly down the aisle with one hand, he escorts "Salacious" Sharon to ringside, his opposite arm entwined with her own.]

RA:  Introducing first...hailing from Leeds, England, and weighing in at 198 lbs....Here is...

...." V A I N G L O R I O U S "  V I N C E NT  S T E R L I N G ! ! ! !....

[Upon reaching the squared circle, Sharon daintily removes his suit jacket to reveal his black tank top emblazoned with a large red 'V' near the left breast. "Vainglorious" politely removes his hat and rests it on the handle of his cane before passing the item over to Sharon, who promptly sets it, and the now folded plaid jacket, near the ring steps. Striding up the ring steps, Sharon is quick to pull down the middle rope so Vincent may pass through. He unfastens his tie and slips it off, discarding it to the cares of his sister before while he takes his time to stretch and relax his muscles.]

JY:  Vincent Sterling, who beat Jason van Drake and Greg Miller to reach this final.

RA:  And his opponent, hailing from Isla Nublar in the South Pacific...weighing in at 210 pounds...

R A P T O R ! ! !

["Juice/Know The Ledge" by Eric B. and Rakim resonates throughout the venue as RAPTOR saunters out to the squared circle. He is clad in demonic-looking, pre match entrance garb, symbolic battle armor if you will.  The crowd is somewhat perplexed and the reaction is mixed at best.  After methodically removing his accessories, RAPTOR is sporting his normal in-ring attire of blue Everlast boxing trunks, taped fists, and bare feet]

JY:  And RAPTOR.....who downed Masato Kurasawa and Akira Albright to reach this point.

BT:  Akira Albright....man that name still cracks me up.

DING!

JY:  Here we go! One of these wrestlers is one step away from winning the 1999 Mikoto Tournament!

[Referee Shoiji Anjoh yells "fight", as the two wrestlers walk to the centre of the ring, and immediately lock up. They grapple a bit, before Sterling drops to the mat, sending RAPTOR flying with an armdrag. RAPTOR climbs to his feet and runs at Sterling, but gets put to the mat again with a drop-toehold. Sterling follows up by running into the ropes and rebounding off. He leaps into the air and comes down with a legdrop, but RAPTOR rolls out of the way in the nick of time. The two men regain their feet a few feet apart, and go back to eyeing each other intensely. A loud round of applause goes up around the arena.]

JY:  The fans are enjoying this battle already. The battle of two smallish men, one a master mat technician, the other an all-rounder with a good knowledge of high-flying moves and suplexes.

BT:  And hopefully some blood.

JY:  Will you shut up about blood?

[They come together again, but this time RAPTOR gets the upperhand with a stiff kneelift, which doubles Sterling over. RAPTOR follows up by sending Sterling into the ropes, and as the Englishman comes rebounding back, he nails him with a spin kick, which knocks Sterling to the mat. RAPTOR then grabs Sterling and stuns him with a couple of forearm shots to the head, and then quickly hooks his head......]

JY:  Big vertical suplex by RAPTOR sends Vincent Sterling crashing to the mat!

BT:  They both look very tired, but I guess they're allowed to be after wrestling two matches each already tonight.

JY:  Hai. It's no surprise that it is two smaller men who have made it to the final, because winning a one-night tournament takes a lot of stamina.

[RAPTOR ties up Sterling on the mat, trying to pry his arms apart for a Juji-Gatame. But Sterling defends grimly, and then counters by driving to his feet, his arms still locked together and being pulled on RAPTOR. Sterling then quickly applies a submission hold - putting a leg-scissor on RAPTOR's left arm and grabbing hold of the right, before dropping back to the mat. This effectively makes a crucifix on the arms, which Sterling pulls back on. RAPTOR squirms in pain, as the referee asks the question.]

JY:  A kind of crucifix submission armbar being applied by Vincent Sterling, and RAPTOR is being asked the question!

BT:  Damn submission wrestling.....make him bleed!

[RAPTOR fights the pain, until finally he snakes out his right foot and is just able to touch the bottom rope, bringing the referee in to break the hold. RAPTOR gets to his feet holding his left shoulder, as Sterling closes in again. Sterling takes the match back to the mat, dropping RAPTOR by legscissoring his left leg and pulling back. Sterling then stands up into an anklelock, but RAPTOR is able to roll through the hold, stomping on Sterling's midsection and legs in the process.]

JY:  I don't think RAPTOR is too keen to see the match remain on the mat. He knows that Sterling is a world-class mat technician.

BT:  Plus it's boring!

JY:  To you maybe, but not to a true wrestling fan.

[With Sterling still on his back on the mat, RAPTOR drops a knee across the back of the Englishman's head, stunning him further. He then gets Sterling to his feet, and sends him crashing chestfirst into the turnbuckles, which sends a resounding "THUD!" through the building and gets a sympathetic pop from the fans. Sterling staggers backwards holding his chest, and RAPTOR quickly hooks him.....]

JY:  BELLY-TO-BACK SUPLEX!!! RAPTOR bridges for the pin....

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

TH-Kickout by Sterling!

BT:  This tournament is taking its toll on these two. Normally they'd still be energetic as hell right now, but with two matches under their belt, they're both looking tired.

JY:  Hai.

[Both men are back to their feet, and RAPTOR sends Sterling into the ropes. As he rebounds off, RAPTOR ducks for a backdrop, but Sterling sees it coming and grabs his opponent's head on the way past, sending him crashing to the mat on the back of his head. RAPTOR climbs back to his feet, and rushes at Sterling, but the Englishman ducks to the side, and sends him into the ropes. RAPTOR rebounds off and comes running back, so Sterling scoops him up in one motion.....]

JY:  OOOOHH!!! TILTAWHIRL FACESLAM!! Sterling dropped RAPTOR on his face!!

BT:  That has to hurt like a sumbitch!

[RAPTOR rolls over onto his back, holding his face, and Sterling follows up by crossing RAPTOR's legs over and pushing his own knee into the shins, pushing RAPTOR's legs in towards his own body. Sterling then leans in and applies a front facelock on RAPTOR, pulling up to execute a submission hold, which brings an "ooooooh" from the fans.]

BT:  What the hell is that?

JY:  Some sort of Indian deathlock variation with a front facelock! Vincent Sterling sure knows his submission holds, and RAPTOR could be in trouble!

[RAPTOR counters with a rake to the eyes, which breaks the hold, and both men slowly get to their feet. RAPTOR takes the initiative, sending several cracking knife-edge chops to Sterling's chest, which bring some cheers from the crowd. RAPTOR then attempts to whip Sterling across the ring into the ropes, but Sterling reverses it, sending RAPTOR for the ride. RAPTOR ducks under an attempted lariat from Sterling, and rebounds again. As Sterling turns around.....]

JY:  HAND-SPRING LARIAT!! That knocked Vincent Sterling off his feet!

BT:  Old Vinnie didn't know much about that.

JY:  I'm sure Sterling wouldn't like you calling him that.

[RAPTOR pauses only for a moment, and then is on the offence again. He climbs through the ropes and stands on the apron, waiting for Sterling to get to his feet. When the Englishman does get vertical again, RAPTOR lifts himself up and springs off the top rope, flying through the air......]

JY:  OH! SPRINGBOARD HURRICANRANA BY RAPTOR!!! He's pulling out all the stops now!

[RAPTOR rolls through the move, and reaches back to hold Sterling's legs for the pinfall attempt.]

JY:  Cover.....

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

THR-NO! Somehow Vincent Sterling kicked out!

BT:  That was close!

[RAPTOR hunches on his hands and knees, feeling the effects of the night's action, as Sterling lies on his back catching his breath. Then RAPTOR gets to his feet and again attempts to send Sterling into the ropes, but again it is reversed. RAPTOR comes rebounding back with his arm stuck out in a lariat, but Sterling ducks it, and at the same time grabs RAPTOR's outstretched arm, spinning himself around before hooking RAPTOR's head.....]

BT:  TWISTED-PANTIES-FROM-HELL-DRIVER!!!

JY:  Uh....spinning single arm DDT, and now Sterling with the cover....

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

THR-Kickout! RAPTOR got his shoulder up at two and a half!

[Sterling rolls off, and takes a few moments to catch his breath, both men looking exhausted. He then warily climbs to his feet, before signalling with a cut-throat signal that he wants to end the match.]

BT:  He wants to end it now!

JY:  Could this be the Renascent....the inverted STF?

[RAPTOR lies on his back, and Sterling starts applying a step-over toehold, the first step of his submission finisher. But as Sterling is facing away from RAPTOR, the man on his back kicks out with his free foot, planting the sole of his boot into Sterling's behind and pushing. This sends Sterling flying facefirst into the top turnbuckle, stunning him.]

JY:  OH! RAPTOR managed to evade it, and Vincent Sterling is stunned!

[RAPTOR is to his feet surprisingly quickly, and he picks up the stunned Sterling and sits him on the top turnbuckle, facing into the ring. He then climbs up himself, and grabs Sterling's head in a front facelock, while hooking his left leg......]

JY:  RAPTOR's got Sterling up top.....he's hooking.....

BT:  OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CRAP!!

JY:  NADARESHIKINOFISHERMANBUSTA!!!!!!!!!

[RAPTOR launches back off the turnbuckles, executing a fisherman buster from the top rope. Sterling's head drives into the mat hard, and RAPTOR bridges up for the pin.]

JY:  He's bridged......

ONE!!!

TWO!!!

THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[The fans erupt into a deafening pop, appreciative of the skills shown by both men.]

DING!

JY:  RAPTOR wins! RAPTOR wins the Mikoto Tournament!!!

BT:  I knew he would. I picked him, and Billy Thomas don't pick losers!

JY:  What a stunning win, and an amazing match to cap off this tournament!

[As the crowd pop continues, "Salacious" Sharon climbs into the ring, pushing past several attendants to check on her brother. RAPTOR sits slumped on his knees, jubilant yet exhausted. The referee lifts his arm in victory.]

RA:  Your winner......and MIKOTO TOURNAMENT CHAMPION.......

.......RAPTOR!!!!!!!!!

JY:  This young man has shown he has all the skills to make it in puroresu, and the same can be said for Vincent Sterling, even though he came up short here tonight.

[As RAPTOR regains his feet, a procession starts coming down the aisle from the entranceway. In front is G-Pro commissioner Koto Oyadama, followed by several pretty Japanese girls, a couple carrying flowers, and another couple carrying between them a huge shiny cup. Behind them are the rest of the competitors from the tournament, walking single file.]

JY:  Here comes the spoils of victory!

BT:  Yeah, those girls sure look scrumptious.

JY:  I meant the cup you pervert!

[The procession reaches the ring, and the various people start climbing in. The wrestlers start forming a square around the ring ropes, as the girls walk forward and present the flowers to RAPTOR, who accepts with a huge grin. Oyadama asks for the house microphone.]

KO: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honour to present the Mikoto Tournament cup to the winner.......RAPTOR!! [huge pop] You have shown yourself worthy, and all I can add is.....welcome to G-Pro!

[Oyadama hands over the cup, which RAPTOR holds up proudly. With the wrestlers standing in a square, and RAPTOR posing proudly with the cup and Commissioner Oyadama, dozens of streamers start hitting the ring, criss-crossing all those in it.]

JY:  Well fans, that's all for Battlefield this week. We'll leave you with the celebrations of RAPTOR, the 1999 Mikoto Tournament champion! So long everyone!
