NJPW Denkoo Puroresu
02/06/99

Venue: Osaka Prefectural Gym, Osaka, Japan
    • Alex RAPTOR started off the show with a 'heartfelt' soliloquy of just how inspirational the NJPW premiere would be.  This unscheduled monologue was cut short by an unhappy Genichiro Matsumura, whose airtime was obviously usurped.

  1. Marc Thomas defeated Satoshi Yamagiwa in 5:57 by pinfall with The Thomas Crusher.  Thomas was able to overcome a late flurry by Yamagiwa to get the duke.

  2. Loki defeated Masahiro Najima in 6:34 by pinfall with The Mischief Maker frog splash.  Young upstart and Tokyo fashion-plate Loki executed some nice offense before finishing off Najima.

  3. In a hard-fought battle, RAPTOR© defeated Axon Blade in 29:59 by pinfall with the Nadare Shiki No fisherman's buster.  Before the match began, RAPTOR got on the house microphone and proceeded to run down Axon Blade for recent comments he made regarding the promotion and the region.  Obviously having heard enough, Axon suckered the rambunctious RAPTOR mid-sentence to get things underway in what was to become a stellar, marathon bout.  It was nothing short of a spot-fest, with both competitors hitting their signature moves.  In one particular sequence, Axon Blade hit a Springboard Tope out onto the arena floor... not to be outdone, RAPTOR nailed an out-of-ring Firebird Splash a few moments later.  Axon had the match well in hand after catching RAPTOR in an Indian Deathlock; RAPTOR was able to persevere though, and pulled the victory out in the final ten seconds with a fisherman's buster from the top rope.

  4. Shoichi Mishima defeated Jin Hasegawa in 8:02 by submission with an STF.  Mysterious masked grappler Shoichi Mishima was just brutal here, laying out the venerable Jin Hasegawa with little resistance.  During the match, Mishima's handler Mr. Okasa invited himself to the broadcast table, and explained how Shoichi had been brought in to eradicate RAPTOR.  Much to Matsumura-san's chagrin, Mr. Okasa also divulged that the Mishima Financial Empire was largely responsible for subsidizing some of Neo J's production costs, in addition to financing the cloning of both RAPTOR and half brother Shoichi Mishima.  Bizarre occurrences indeed.

    • After locking Hasegawa in the STF, Mishima refused to release the hold, and only did so after orders from Mr. Okasa.  Footage from the conclusion of the preceding match showed RAPTOR, despite being winded from his long battle, take off for the venue's exit as if he'd seen a ghost.
